2007
Show
The 2007 Gower Show will once again
be held in the scenic grounds of Penrice Castle Park, Reynoldston,
by kind permission of the Methuen-Campbell family.
The show will offer classes for livestock,
horses, show-jumping, poultry, honey, cookery, horticulture, crops,
stick making and vintage engines. In the horse section there are
new classes this year for Coloured horses, NPS, BSHA, BSPA &
RAGW qualifiers and also a Dengie Show jumping qualifier.
A full programme of other events will
take place during the day including a motorcycle display team,
falconry display, Sheepdog and Ducks, Banwen Miners Hounds, sidesaddle
demonstration and a parade of vintage engines.
Horticulture
The children’s section competitions
include making a flower arrangement in a teacup, and a plate of
cakes made of flowers. Life-sized scarecrows are needed and there
is a search for the tallest sunflowers. All this is in addition
to the usual displays and classes for the very best vegetables,
cut flowers and pot plants. Please contact Liz for further info
on 371222.
Cookery and Handicrafts
“A Grand Day Out” is the
theme to this year at the show. There are a wide range of classes
including photography, painting and needlework. There is a special
knitting class too looking for that special hand knitted item
for a premature baby. (All entries will be donated to Singleton
Hospital premature baby unit after the show.) Children’s
classes include decorating flowerpots, making a collage, decorating
a Swiss roll, and making flapjacks.
